Kindle 2 Announced
gadget review // Mark Yuasa
The follow-up to Amazon's amazingly 80s-styled ebook reader was announced today.
Besides the much-improved Apple-rific stylings, this feature is certainly brand new:
Read-to-Me: With the new Text-to-Speech feature, Kindle can read every book, blog, magazine, and newspaper out loud to you
I don't really go for audio books, but some may really enjoy it. That is unless the voice synthesizer sounds like "Emily" from the Garmin Nuvi.
Kohjinsha SC3 UMPC Review, Part 1
gadget review // Mark Yuasa
Kohjinsha has been making some tiny PC Laptops for a while now, as I discovered from my visit to the Akihabara district in Tokyo this past April.
I received the new SC3 one week ago today from Direct From Japan. This is my first Kohjinsha, and my first UMPC to boot. There are a couple of reviews out there already (Pocketables, UMPCPortal) that take the machine to task on specs and battery life so I will list out my generally unscientific impressions on the SC3 after a week of use.
Sony Reader (PRS-500) - Review
gadget review // Mark Yuasa
I bought the Sony Reader (PRS-500) a couple of years ago while on a business trip. I had no idea the product existed at the time, neither was I in the market for an eBook reader at all.
I played around with a display unit in the store, and the real sucker punch came when I found one of the books that came preloaded was a Star Trek eBook (what a nerd). I had already read the book, but the idea of downloading eBooks came rushing back to me.
